Iran and a Few Other Things

October 28, 2007 / by therightpolitics

Let's start off this week's article with a little education on Iran.  I've even found a wonderful educational video to show the class!

In recent weeks, we as a free democracy allowed the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to speak at Columbia University without any official restraint from the White House.  As I understand that freedom of speech is so utterly important to us, (thus providing me with an avenue for my own opinions here) I cannot fathom why we didn't just bar him from entering our country in the first place given his continuing comments towards the United States and Israel and the fact that we keep finding more and more Iranian made weapons that are being used against our troops in Iraq.

Case in point:  October 23rd, 2007.  A military base southeast of Baghdad came under attack from insurgents using 107mm rockets.  Luckily, they have terrible aim and only damaged a vehicle, but U.S. and Iraqi forces have seized 40 rockets in the past four months that trace back to Iran, this most recent one was manufactured in Iran just this past March.  So, in seven months, a rocket was manufactured and somehow made it's way into Iraq from Iran and was used in a failed attempt to kill members of our armed forces.

Now I'm no politician, (not elected anyway) but why would we let the President of Iran even think about stepping foot in the country of the people that his country is helping to kill?

Still not convinced that Iran hates the U.S.?  Just take a few minutes to watch this military drill video from Iran.  Click here to watch

Done?  Yeah, I felt the same outrage.  Seeing their soldiers form a swastika in the middle of our flag with the star of David and then stab them with their sword pissed me off too, although I found humor in the utter hypocrisy of them symbolizing us as Nazis when they tout their hatred for Jews on pretty much a daily basis.

So what does Hill-dog have to say of Iran?

(From Hill-dogs blog when asked if was acceptable for Iran to "get the bomb.")

Clinton: Is it acceptable for Iran to get the bomb? Well I think the short answer is, that is not something we want to see happen. That, you know, Iran has a long history of sponsoring terrorism, they support Hezbollah. We know they have been responsible for bombings around the world, including killing Americans in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. They are now deeply involved in killing Americans by providing weapons and providing technical assistance. So there is no doubt that we have got a difficult relationship with Iran. But here is what I would do as president.

(Here's where I just about fell out of my chair.  Hillary just said that Iran has been responsible for supporting and taking part in terrorism around the globe and she says this...)

"I would engage in negotiations with Iran, with no conditions because we don't really understand how Iran works."

Um, Mrs. Clinton?  You might want to rethink your candidacy for the President of the United States if you're even thinking about changing the United States' policy from "we do not negotiate with terrorists" to "sure, let's have a town hall chat with terrorists" because we "don't really understand how Iran works."  I don't understand how Al Qaeda works and I don't care.  I wouldn't negotiate with them, I would just punch them in the face.

In other news, in case I haven't mentioned it lately, the unjust accusations against Rush Limbaugh have done a 180 in his favor.  You see, Rush took the letter that was sent to the Excellence in Broadcasting Network which was signed by dozens of members of congress and auctioned it off on EBay for charity to benefit the children of fallen soldiers.  Rush pledged to match the proceeds dollar for dollar.  The winning bid was $2,100,100.00, so over $4 million will go towards this worthy cause.  Good job Rush!

And here's where the liberal media decided to turn it's head and start practicing their normal hypocrisy.  You see, the Limbaugh story was front page headlines for CNN.com, but when it came to Representative Pete Stark's comments, you have to go to their political blog section to even read what he said which is probably the worst thing that I have heard from a politician in quite some time.

When commenting on President Bush's veto of the SCHIPS bill, Stark stated that Republicans are spending money "to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough … to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."

Okay, if there was any reason for Congress to condemn someone for their comments, now would be the time, but Stark is a Demutaunt so this won't happen, but if he were a Republican, he would be chastised.

Until then...

You are making two heroic assumptions. We can quickly defeat the Iranians by sea and air bombardment. If the war lasts more than a month, the Asians will loan us money [purchase T-bills].
Your people erred in Iraq and that has put our country on the critical list. I hope the assumptions hold true. If not, I will mourn the death of my country

Perhaps too much of Iran is above sea level.
